How to Identify Pure & Authentic Cold Pressed Oils

With growing awareness about health, many brands now claim to sell “pure” cold pressed oils. But not all are genuine. Here are some simple ways to identify authentic oils and protect yourself from adulteration.

First, check the color and aroma. Pure cold pressed oils usually have a natural golden or nutty hue and retain the characteristic smell of their source, like coconut, groundnut, or mustard. If the oil looks too clear or has no aroma, it may be refined or mixed.

Second, pay attention to the texture. Real cold pressed oils are slightly thick and leave a light coating when rubbed between fingers, unlike refined oils which feel too watery.

Third, always check labels and certifications. Look for terms like “cold pressed,” “wood pressed,” “organic,” and certifications such as FSSAI or organic seals.

Finally, trust only reliable brands that are transparent about their sourcing and extraction methods. Cheap, mass-produced oils often compromise on quality.

Choosing authentic cold pressed oils ensures you get the nutritional value, taste, and purity that your health deserves.
